Exceptional educators are vital to providing a quality tutoring service. Our teachers not only have years of teaching experience but also specialist degrees in the subjects they teach. All teachers at Licensed Tutors have a teaching qualification leading to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) from the Department for Education alongside enhanced DBS checks. Personality, knowledge, and communication skills are the key things that we look at while hiring qualified candidates who also possess professional teaching & examiner experience.
Our Story
Our learning centre in Woking was founded by a dedicated group of qualified teachers about a decade ago at the Maybury Centre. We are committed to providing an interdisciplinary approach that fosters a cross-curricular learning environment and our mission is to support all pupils with affordable fees while raising academic standards in the community.
Since February 2025, we're excited to announce the opening of our second learning centre in Wixams, Bedford, located at the Lakeview Village Hall! Our goal is to bring the same standard of academic excellence to this vibrant community. We look forward to supporting students in their educational journey and fostering a love for learning. Muza Usman, BSc Hons, BEd, LLM, QTS, NPQSL
Mr Usman graduated with a double major in Physics & Biology from University of Toronto. He went on to earn his Bachelor of Education in First Class Standing from Lakehead University and completed his Master of Laws from the University of London whilst practising full-time as a qualified teacher in the UK. His past teaching experience includes private schools like St James Senior Boys School in Ashford, Licensed Victuallers' School in Ascot, and Wickham Court School in Kent. His recent teaching experience includes Kimberley Sixth Form College in Stewartby and Luton Sixth Form College in Luton. Mr Usman is currently undertaking graduate studies at the University of Oxford within the Faculty of Education.
Hira Jamil, BSc Hons, AMI, PGCE, QTS
Mrs Jamil graduated with a double major in Psychology & Health Sciences from University of Toronto. She went on to earn her AMI qualification from Foundation for Montessori Education to become a qualified early years practitioner. She later earned her PGCE from the University of Roehampton to become a fully qualified primary teacher in the UK. Her previous teaching experience includes Lynch Hill Primary Academy in Slough and she is currently teaching at a leading private school in Biggleswade known as One School Global.
Stephanie Mercer, BSc Hons, MSc, PGCE, QTS
Miss Mercer graduated from the University of Lincoln with a specialism in Medical Biosciences. She went on to earn her Master of Science degree from the University of Sheffield with a specialism in Human and Molecular Genetics. She became a fully qualified teacher in the UK after earning her PGCE from Brunel University London. Her teaching experience includes Bedford Academy and Priory Academy in Dunstable.
